My Story
1. When have you experienced a situation that felt chaotic or unorganized? How did it make you feel, and what helped bring order to it?
2. Paul talks about keeping worship orderly and focused on building others up. Why do you think that kind of structure and edification was (and still is) important for a church?
3. What inspired or challenged you in the sermon this week? What raised questions for you?
Digging Deeper
1. Read 1 Cor 14:26. Paul says that the purpose of worship should be done “for building up,”and everything should contribute to this. What do you think that looks like in a modern church setting? How can each of us participate in building others up at our weekly gathering?
2. Read 1 Cor 14:27-33. Paul emphasizes that “God is not a God of confusion but of peace” (v. 33). How does maintaining order in worship reflect the character of God and the work of the Holy Spirit??
3. Read 1 Cor 14:34-40. How can churches today apply the principles of order, respect, and edification in worship while still allowing room for spiritual expression and spontaneity?
4. Are there any questions this text raises for you that were not addressed in the guide? If so, what questions do you have?
